Midget Varsity is entering into it’s third year in the Varsity division in CSSHL. It will be our first year with 2 teams in the division, Varsity Black and Varsity Gold. We will have players from all over the globe including our Captain, Ethan Hersant from the Cayman Islands. We will also be lucky to have Brett Roloson (Worcester, MA) returning for a second season.
The 2016-2017 hockey season has much to live up to after hanging a banner in our home rink, The Charlie Purdey Arena, for the past 2 seasons. We are losing some of our key leaders in Koltin King, Tommi Redl and Olin Webb. This will give others a chance to step up and take on key roles in our locker room.
The boys will have a lot of hockey on their plate during the first two terms including 3-4 practices per week, 1-3 games per week and tournaments scheduled in Burnaby, B.C., Lake Placid, NY and Langford B.C. Another major addition to our program is a class included in the curriculum called Hockey HP where the players will have time set aside for the skills that don’t’ normally get practiced during regular team sessions.
The boys will be taught and coached by myself, Jame Pollock and Dwayne Roloson. Together we have nearly 40 years of professional hockey experience; we both have played in the NHL, Europe and competed for our country earning a Gold medal together in the 2007 World Championships in Russia. Our goal is to grow these young individuals through hockey and to hold them accountable to the lessons we teach and how to put each other first.
We look forward to another successful year in the Midget Varsity division in the CSSHL.
See you at the rink!
