2017 – 2018 Season
The 2017/18 season marks the third year of the Bantam Prep program at Shawnigan Lake School. All but 4 players from last year’s team have graduated to Midget hockey, the majority at Shawnigan. We will rely heavily on the leadership and experience from last year’s squad in Ross Roloson, Seiya Tanaka-Campbell, Marshall McDonald and Kristjan Shoemaker, as well as 15 first year students at the school.
As a coaching staff our task is to improve our players hockey skills and prepare them for success in the future both on and off the ice. Teamwork, work habits, discipline, accountability, communication, and decisive decision making are some of the “intangibles” sports teams and organizations look for in individuals. It is our challenge and responsibility to make these traits a priority for the student/athletes on our team. Paramount in our endeavour to develop our players is that they are enjoying their experience and the sport.
We are expecting a challenging and rewarding season competing in the most competitive bantam league in Western Canada. The habits we can form will serve us well not only for the season but for the future.
